In memory of our darling Maddox Morgan

You were the light of our lives ~

We love you so much and will miss you forever.

XOXOXO Mummy & Daddy

Tuesday, March 08, 2011

It is with heavy hearts that we write to let you know that our beloved Maddox Morgan passed away late this afternoon, after a brief but valiant struggle with cancer.

Maddie has been the light of our lives ever since we brought him home, at seven weeks of age, in September of 2002. He was a chubby, twelve pound bundle of joy and loads of trouble just waiting to happen!!! Everything we know about raising dogs we learned from him. We made every mistake in the book but, despite our many errors, Maddie grew to be a delightfully sweet & loving Golden boy.

We made it through his crazy puppy years, including the day we returned home from work to find that he'd chewed up part of the oak baseboard in the living room in our absence; the afternoon we found that he'd attempted to "play" with our cat, Tarquin, and had a claw embedded in his nose to prove it; the walk during which he submerged himself in a muddy puddle by the side of the road and emerged from the muck absolutely covered in rotting burrs; all the days when he was absolutely obsessed with eating  (possibly poisonous) mushrooms and, another favourite, horse pooh;  the endless mornings when he'd take off after a squirrel, deer or rabbit and refuse to come back,  no matter how long & loudly we called for him; and the tales of his many misadventures go on & on..

When we moved back to Toronto from Haliburton, when Mads was a year and a half, it was because of him that we chose this area in which to live. Also because of him, we became involved in the Rosehill Park Dog Owners Association. And then Maddie became the inspiration for our business, "gentle guide".  It is due to him that we have so many wonderful friends in our extended park family.

Over the years, Maddie also welcomed countless four-legged friends into our lives. He personified both caring & sharing ~ the gentle guide motto! We know he will be missed most of all by his very best friends, Danni Lynn and Robbie, who have shared daycare days in our home for the past several years. Seeing the bond these three musketeers formed over this time has been very special and heartwarming for us.

We will always remember Maddie at his best, as he was just a few short days ago, while playing with his favourite giant red Cuz ball in the snow at "his" park. With his tail wagging, and tongue lolling, he relentlessly insisted that his best human buddies play with him. He absolutely loved this park and all his legion of friends. He truly had such a wonderful life.

Ali's Dad once said that the "problem" with Maddie was that he was "one note". When asked what he meant, Dad explained that Maddie was ALWAYS in happy mode! This is a lesson and legacy that he shared with so many and which we are sure will never be forgotten. To all of Maddie's dear friends, we extend our thanks for all of your love, kindness & compassion over these past difficult days. May Maddox, our gentle guide, forever rest in peace ~ he has certainly earned his place in heaven.

Much love, Ali & Hans

In tribute to our beloved Tarquin Ambrose, who passed from this world on December 31, 2009. You were our first baby ~ and always will be our "Number One Son". Forever loved and missed by your Mummy & Daddy XOXOXO
